Today would have been a perfect day to build a snow man… if only Petri had any snow! Mocha decided to get crafty and put together a simple craft that doubles as a miniature snowman for him and a Christmas decoration for your children to make! Join Mocha and Petri as they tell you how to make a simple miniature snowman decoration craft with you and your kids!
You Will Need:
- Three styrofoam Balls OR three pom poms (of equal size OR two large and one small)
- Two brown pipe cleaners (or sticks)
- Five black Beads
- Three buttons
- Two small googly eyes
- One orange pipe cleaner
- Black foam OR felt
- Ribbon
Step One!
You’ll start your snowman by fastening the foam balls together. With the largest one at the bottom, cut a small piece (about an inch) of the orange pipe cleaner and lightly push it through the sides of each of the balls. Cut another piece of the orange pipe cleaner to attach the smallest ball to the top.
If you would like to make sure your snowman is always standing, glue it to a square piece of thin foam or cardboard.
Step Two!
Cut a brown pipe cleaner in half.
Bend the ends so that they resemble a snow-man hand (or stick). You should have three bends.
Fasten the pipe cleaner by pushing it through the sides of the center ball.
Step Three!
Glue the googly eyes to the top ball.
Fold a small orange pipe cleaner in half and push it through the front middle of the top ball.
Using five or more small black or blue beads, push them far enough into the styrofoam that they are secure. Glue if needed.
Add three or more buttons down the front of the middle styrofoam ball.
Step Four
To make the snowman’s hat, you will need one large foam or felt circle, one small, and one long rectangle.
Size the larger one so that it is an accurate rim on the snowman’s head.
Create a circle with the rectangular felt on the large circle, leaving enough room for a rim. Glue in place.
Cut the smaller circle so that it fits on the top of the hat. Glue in place.
Wrap the ribbon around the base of the hat for decoration.
Glue hat to top of snowman’s head.
